DIY Double-Duty Healing Balm For Glowing Skin

Oh, how I love this recipe and am so happy to share it with you. It's a simple recipe, that anyone can do, it's easy to make and very effective at healing and hydrating the skin. Indulgent, reviving, and nourishing are some of the words that come to mind when I think about this DIY Double-Duty Healing Balm For Glowing Skin.

Ingredients used to make a jar of DIY Double-Duty Healing Balm For Glowing Skin

I've combined two super oils, hemp, and argan, why? Because they're packed with essential fatty acids and proteins the skin needs to heal and flourish.

Hemp Oil (Cannabis sativa) is full of hydrating omega-fatty acids and is pretty great for most skin types. It aids the skin in retaining moisture and is used in sun-care lotions and balms. I love it because it works really well when the skin is exposed to extreme temperatures. Polar vortex anyone?

Argan oil (Argania Spinosa) is a multi-purpose oil that conditions and protects the skin, the sterols and Vitamin E work like a marriage made in heaven, to heal and revitalize.

Beeswax gives the skin this super-duper protective layer and is a wonderful base for ointments, salves, and balms. It has healing properties and has been known to help with burns, inflammation, and bruises. It's a rich emollient that is amazing for super dry skin, creating a waterproof barrier on the skin.

Shea Butter (Butyrospermum Parkii) conditions and smoothes the skin, the Vitamin A content helps to heal the skin from psoriasis, eczema, and blemishes. It's really good for dry, damaged skin that needs a little pick-me-up.

Sleep, drink water, and treat your skin. To make this recipe come to life, I've combined three key essential oils. Frankincense because it's one of the best oils for improving skin tone and treating mature skin. Bergamot because it has this fruity feel to it, and it reminds me of the sweet smell of flowers. Cypress because of its cooling feel and evergreen scent. This balm can be used to cleanse, exfoliate or moisturize the skin.

Remove from heat. Add the essential oils. Pour the mixture into a sterilized jar. Allow to cool for a few hours, before applying the lid.

The Ritual:

Use as an ultra-rich face balm by massaging into the face in circular motions. Leave on.
To use as a cleanser, simply massage a small amount onto the face, wash off with a damp cloth or cotton pad to get rid of build-up, and exfoliate away dead skin cells.

Recipe Notes:

  • Recommended for: All skin types
  • Shelf life: Use within 3 months
  • Usage: As much as you want

This indulgent double-duty balm can be used as a deep moisturizer or a cleaner. It's going to help revive dull skin and help protect your skin from the changing seasons. You can adjust the recipe by using other carrier oils but I've kind of fallen in love with hemp oil and I think you will too?
