4 Of Our Favourite Canadian Sustainable Baby Brands
What are you putting on your baby's skin? Ever thought about the chemicals in their clothes? Here are 4 Of Our Favourite Canadian Sustainable Baby Brands.
More and more evidence is showing that buying organic clothing for you and especially your baby is probably a really good idea. In many cases, conventional clothing is made from synthetic fibers including PVC, esters, petrochemicals, and in the case of kids PJ’s flame retardant chemicals, all of which have been linked to a number of alarming health-related issues.
So what should you look for when buying organic baby clothes?
It’s also important to mention that even natural fabrics can be coated with a concoction of toxic chemicals like:
- Phthalates
- Sulfonamide
- Dioxin-producing bleach
- Ammonia
- Formaldehyde
- Caustic soda
- Sulfuric acid
- Volatile organic compounds (VOCs)
- Halogens and bromines PVC-based ink
- azo-aniline and petrochemical dyes
- Urea resins
Now if you are buying baby or kids' clothing and are not sure, you can always look at the label, here are some examples of words you may see (and you will want to avoid):
- Antibacterial
- Antimicrobial
- Moisture-wicking
- Moth-repellant
- Odour-resistant
- Stain-proof
- Static-resistant
- Wrinkle-free
- Permanent press
Your baby's skin is super sensitive and studies have shown that some toxins are present in their clothes, which can cause skin issues. Knowing all of this, we want to help you, we have rounded up our favorite Canadian sustainable baby brands.
