I can't say enough about Canadian green beauty brands. Here's a list of my favs. There are so many to choose from!
We have a lot to love about being Canadian: the Rocky Mountains, gorgeous beaches, cottage country, the Great Lakes, freshwater, safe cities, hockey, poutine, and of course Ryan Gossling. But there is one more thing- natural skincare.
Before the whole world started obsessing about plant-based skincare, Canadians were leading the way and now we have some of the BEST natural beauty brands on the planet. I've loved pioneers like Love Fresh, Graydon, Cocoon Apothecary, and Province Apothecary for years, and if you don't know about them, head on to their websites NOW!
For this blog post, I want to highlight newer brands (to me), but just as good, and I am going to predict will undoubtedly take a bite out of the green beauty pie.
I also want to point out that some brands come in plastic. It's not an ideal situation. I realize this. But if you can purchase one of these Canadian Green Beauty Brands instead of the conventional ones, you are still making a difference. It's ultimately up to the bands to do better. I suggest reaching out to them and telling them how you feel.

Shopping for eco-friendly, ethical Canadian skincare can be a challenge! There is so much greenwashing to be aware of. To help you make better choices. I've got some tips and guides to help you. Make sure you head to the bottom of this post.
1. EI SKIN

EI SKIN makes advanced organic skincare products with a full range, including cleansers, cremes, exfoliants, eye repair, masks, serums, toners, and treatments.
The Organic Collection offers a unique and holistic approach to skincare. Emphasizing waterless and organic juice-based formulas, this collection ensures that users receive highly potent ingredients in every application.
The skin benefits from enriched absorption of vital nutrients by using organic juices as the foundational element instead of water. Enhanced with powerful antioxidants, the collection actively combats the damaging effects of free radicals, known contributors to skin aging.
Additionally, the infusion of fruit stem cells offers regenerative properties, aiding skin repair and rejuvenation.
Another remarkable feature of this collection is the inclusion of plant extracts and wildcrafted botanicals. These elements provide a botanical boost, ensuring the skin remains nourished, hydrated, and radiates with health.
The proprietary blends within the collection are meticulously crafted to tackle multiple signs of aging, from addressing fine lines to maintaining skin elasticity. Beyond merely catering to external aesthetics, the Organic Collection is devoted to nurturing the authentic beauty of the skin, promoting a genuine and enduring healthy glow.
The Drench Vitamin C+E Hydrating Moisturizer is a nutrient-packed solution to rejuvenate and protect the skin. A formula concentrated with Sunflower, Seabuckthorn, and Avocado offers robust protection against environmental stressors while ensuring deep hydration for compromised skin. It's designed to keep the skin youthful, supple, and vibrant.
Key Ingredients:
- Sunflower, Seabuckthorn, and Avocado: These primary ingredients provide intense hydration and fortify the skin's natural barrier against environmental aggressors.
- Vitamin B3: A pivotal component that aids in forming proteins in the skin. It also plays a role in reducing redness and congestion.
Key Benefits:
- DNA Protection: It safeguards the skin's DNA from the detrimental effects of pollution.
- Revitalization: Targets and revitalizes skin that has been damaged by the sun.
- Collagen Boost: Encourages collagen production, a protein essential for skin elasticity.
- Anti-Aging: Helps in diminishing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, presenting a more youthful visage.
- Radiance Enhancement: Boosts the skin's natural glow, ensuring a radiant complexion.
- Texture: The moisturizer boasts a luxurious creamy consistency but is designed to be non-greasy.
- Hydration: While it provides deep moisturization, it ensures a finish free from greasy residue.
EI SKIN stands out as a leader in the skincare industry, setting itself apart with a unique blend of natural botanicals and cutting-edge skincare technology. At the heart of their approach is an understanding that even the most nutrient-rich ingredients need an effective delivery mechanism to benefit the skin truly.
Many products may boast impressive ingredients, but without the proper delivery system, they barely scratch the surface, failing to penetrate the deeper layers of the skin where real cellular repair and regeneration occur.
EI SKIN employs an advanced Phyto delivery system known as Phyto-Advance Transdermal Science to address this challenge. This method leverages pure, natural botanical extractions and skin-identical ingredients.
All are delivered using plant-based techniques. The aim? To ensure that vital ingredients reach the dermis - the skin's layer housing elastin, collagen, and connective tissue.
But their commitment doesn't end there. EI SKIN champions a holistic skincare approach that is both "Naturally Pure" and "Science Driven." They prioritize using the purest raw and wildcrafted natural ingredients, extracted with care through steam distillation. Furthermore, their small-batch formulations ensure quality and efficacy.
In their dedication to ethical and sustainable practices, EI SKIN ensures that their ingredients are responsibly sourced from certified organic farms across Canada or from environmentally-friendly and ethical producers. Consumers can take comfort in the fact that EI SKIN products are paraben-free, vegan, and cruelty-free. Even their packaging reflects their eco-conscious ethos.
Their multi-layered skin fortification approach emphasizes long-term skin health and combines scientific rigor with high-performance results. This commitment to quality and effectiveness, combined with an immersive sensory experience, sets EI SKIN apart as a brand for those seeking transformative skincare.
2. Cosmic Skincare

Cosmic Skincare is a line of natural skincare and botanical bath rituals. Safe for everyone in the family and for the planet, Cosmic Skincare works to infuse and nourish skin without any synthetic preservatives, sulfates, artificial fragrances, or petroleum.
Instead, their products are made with a loving approach to aging, featuring only natural, nourishing, and ethically sourced ingredients, including oils, clays, petals, milk, and honey.
You will find a lovely selection of skincare products, including their Clarity Complexion Oil, designed for acne-prone skin, Cosmic Absolute Oil Facial Serum, and Cosmic Dude Face And Beard Oil for the bearded ones among us. They also offer clay masks, bath milk, gift sets, and more.
Their skincare and bath rituals are mindfully crafted in small batches at their studio cottage by the sea and packaged using plastic-free glass containers. Where there are non-recyclables like droppers included with facial serums and oils, they can be reused.
Inspired by "pink quartz, goddess energy and the divine feminine, long forest walks, folk traditions, old apothecaries, magic, romance, Autumn, the sea and moon bathing", Cosmic Skincare wants to help us find our magic all while embracing ourselves as we are.
3. Cocoon Apothecary

Cocoon Apothecary is the OG of Botanical Beauty in Canada, founded by Jessica Burman in 2003. Since then, Jessica has created one of the most effective green beauty brands today. The range includes skincare, bath and body, and a complete line formatted especially for the man in your life.
Cocoon's skincare line includes cleansers, toners, serums, eye creams, SFP, and more. I have used most of these products and LOVE all of them. The Sweet Orange Collection is at the top of my list for many reasons. The smell is simply divine. It smells like oranges, is light, and refreshes you. It's not overpowering at all.
The clarifying gel cleanser is a must-have in any skincare regime. Cleansers have always been hard because they strip the skin and burn my eyes.
This is not the case at all with this one. It's made with biodegradable jojoba beads that exfoliate skin and keep it smooth and balanced. The coconut-based foam with soothing aloe vera and witch hazel waters will remove dead skin cells and leave your skin feeling fabulous.
The Orange Blossom facial cream makes me swoon — the scent is perfect and light and not greasy. I use this at night as well; after a day in the sun, it's perfect.
My skin is normal, but it has been so dry this winter. I was getting dry patches on my nose and cheeks, but my skin has never felt more moisturized. I paired it with the Nordic serum to boost the moisture; wow, I'm so happy!
The Nordic Boost Hydration is packed full of beneficial and super innovative ingredients, another reason I love this brand. Jessica knows skin!
Here are a few other innovative ingredients used in Cocoon Apothecary's products:
- Hyaluronic Acid — A polysaccharide found naturally in skin that can bind to large amounts of water to keep skin hydrated.
- Iceland Moss — A cold-climate lichen with polysaccharides that adhere water to the skin.
- Polypody Fern — Works with Iceland Moss to soften skin. Helps increase the skin’s natural moisture factor.
- Peat Moss — Absorbs and retains water in the skin through its ability to hold 20 - 30 times its weight in water
Cocoon Apothecary uses certified organic ingredients, and the brand is entirely plant-based, vegan, and cruelty-free. Everything is sourced ethically and sustainably from trusted partners. And it's all formulated in-house (in Canada) by Jess and her team.
The brand's look, logo, and packaging have undergone a significant overhaul. With that, they have launched 24 Certified Organic or Certified Natural products through Ecocert Cosmos. So excited for Jess and her team! A big congrats to them!
The packaging is so thoughtful, too — it comes in reusable glass amber bottles. They also have a bottle recycling program saying, "through our bottle return program, we can collect hundreds of bottles a month, sanitize and reuse them. Reusing glass saves product packaging from landfills and reduces the environmental tolls of creating new materials."
If you are looking for effective, natural skincare, this is it! USE THEECOHUB15.
4. Zakiella

Crafted with precision in Canada, their products are a testament to quality and authenticity. They observed a notable void in the market for vibrant, natural makeup choices, especially within clean beauty, which predominantly offers neutral tones.
Driven by this, they ventured to infuse the market with a splash of color, introducing lipsticks and eyeshadows even in bold blues and purples. Their vision is Reimagining Clean Beauty™, highlighting a broad spectrum of shades, vivid colors, and a staunch commitment to exclude microplastic elements.
Their innovative approach to offering eyeshadow refills sets them apart in the clean beauty landscape. This allows users to tailor their palettes or replenish their favorite shade, paving the way for reduced waste and ensuring customers get precisely the desired shades. In an effort to educate and maintain transparency, every ingredient is meticulously illustrated and described on their website.
They are honored with the Leaping Bunny Certified Cruelty-Free distinction and remain dedicated to utilizing child-labor-free mica and certified organic components. Distancing themselves from many competitors, they refrain from using microplastics (including their liquid variants), talc, PFAS, silicones, and aluminum.
Their sole concession to synthetic components is incorporating Red 7 in select lipstick shades. This choice ensures a luminous red shade without relying on aluminum-centric components like carmine while still adhering to FDA guidelines.
Their website diligently displays the natural ingredient percentage for each product, catering to those who seek purely natural products and those who lean towards vibrant shades with a composition over 95% natural.
Their environmental ethos is evident in their packaging strategy: rather than bulky packaging, they imprint labels onto products directly. This underscores their eco-conscious approach and ensures the ingredient list remains succinct and meaningful.
5. Sens.Health

The new SENS brand of products is bringing an exciting new ingredient to skincare in Canada, hypochlorous acid (HOCl). It’s a chemical most people have never heard about because, until recently, it could not be created in a shelf-stable form.
HOCl is Mother Nature’s perfect chemistry, produced by white blood cells to help restore damaged or injured skin to a healthy state. Skin Rescue is a versatile topical HOCl spray used as a gentle toner after shaving or waxing or to help restore dry skin. Pure HOCl is pH balancing with no-sting applications to scrapes & burns.
The hype around HOCl is interesting, with tons of research to back it up. Mainstream media has picked up on HOCl too. Shape asserts that the antimicrobial effects of HOCl make it useful for fighting acne and skin infections; it's anti-inflammatory, soothing, repairs damaged skin, speeds up wound healing, and is an excellent option for those with chronic inflammatory skin conditions such as eczema, rosacea, and psoriasis.
Health Magazine explains that HOCl is safe and soothing to use on any part of your skin, including around the eye and on sensitive rashy baby bottoms. It's also used as an irrigant in surgery as a solution to clean open surgical wounds.
Hypoallergenic HOCl is native to all mammals, including cats and dogs, and can be used to clean ears and around eyes and keep paw pads supple. It’s also an excellent fur deodorizer keeping pets fresh between washes.
At higher concentrations, HOCl is a fantastic deodorizer. Everywhere Deodorizer is a hypoallergenic fragrance-free deodorizer that oxidizes odor molecules and kills odor-causing bacteria, mold, and mildew with no residue. It’s perfect for shoes, hockey gear, skates, pet beds, pet accidents, coolers, vehicles, sweaters, suit jackets, fleeces, etc.
A simple test is to spray one armpit of a sweaty stinky workout shirt. Give it a few seconds and smell it… it simply eliminates odor and leaves no fragrance. It’s a game-changer!
Their wipes are plant-based and biodegradable, and their "Refill not landfill" philosophy reduces plastic waste and makes everyday use of their products very affordable.
A sustainable, affordable, healthy option makes SENS. Follow them and watch out for new products in mid and late 2022. USE THEECOHUB for a 15% discount.

8. bareLUXE

"Performance Botanicals that work!" I mean who does not love that? bareLUXE's Elevated Face Oils are an invitation to relish in a self-loving slow beauty ritual.
You have three powerhouses to choose from: the Bakuchiol Age Support Elevated Face Oil, the bare Essential Elevated Face Oil, and the Northern Rescue Elevated Recovery Oil (which my skin could use a massive dose of right about now!).
What's unique about these oils is that each one begins with a proprietary CoreComplex™ Oil Blend as a base. Then they carefully add bioactive ingredients to create these brilliant dosages, making the carrier oils way more effective.
Have you heard about Bakuchiol? It's a botanical retinol alternative that works wonders on the skin. It's a phytochemical that works the same way as retinol but without all the side effects. You will find this powerhouse ingredient in the Age Support Elevated Face Oil, so I recommend you try it if you have dry, aging skin.
All bareLUXE's products are cruelty-free (Leaping Bunny certified), certClean certified (certified for safer beauty and personal care products), and formulated to repair, balance, and moisturize the skin with vital nutrients. Some of their nourishing ingredients include Squalane, Vitamin E, Camellia Oil, and Aloe Extract—to name a few.
Each oil is filled to the brim with enhancing vitamins, proteins, and amino acids that will work hard to rejuvenate each cell on your precious face!

Obaaki encompasses everything an ethical brand should be. They are small-batch, made in Canada with beautiful ingredients sourced ethically from all over the world.
The Organic Sugar Scrub, which I can't get enough of, is good enough to eat. It removes dead skin cells and makes your skin feel moisturized and soft. It's made with "organic cane sugar, coconut oil, sunflower oil, grape seed oil, shea butter, cocoa butter, vitamin E, and essential oils. It's a must-have.
Their Whipped Shea Lotion is like putting a mix of butter and cream on your body. It's so soothing, it just melts right into your skin, with no greasy residue. I'd drink it if I could. Choose from three scents, Earthy — is an invigorating blend of cedar, ho wood, and grapefruit, designed to stimulate the senses.
The Sensual Scent is an intoxicating blend of sandalwood, vetiver, and amber designed to inspire deep relaxation. Or you can go with the unscented version. T
his Shea Butter is next level, it's grown organically in West Africa, and you trust me, you will feel a difference on your skin.

Obakki is one of my fav alternatives to Amazon. Everything they do is about intentional living. Founded in 2005 by designer and humanitarian Treana Peake, Obakki is a "purpose-led lifestyle brand focused on providing access to modern, sustainable goods handcrafted by artisans from around the globe."
Treana has spent her career cultivating and building relationships with indigenous groups worldwide. Her website is filled with some of the most beautiful handcrafted homewares, lifestyle products, and meaningful apparel collections, all ethically made by people who are paid fairly for their work and working in safe environments.
The Obakki Foundation is the brand's philanthropic counterpart. They work tirelessly to bring clean water access to over 3 million people. The work they do is truly so inspiring. You make a massive difference in people's lives when you shop here. Which is what sustainable living is.
10. Pure & Simple

This green beauty brand has been around for many years and is well-loved by everyone who uses skincare. They know skin so well they've been voted Toronto's number-one facial by both BlogTo and Narcity Canada. They have eight sustainable, eco-friendly spas across the GTA, and when COVID is over, you can be sure I will make a pit stop!
I've been using and LOVING the Minimalist skincare line. It's formatted for older skin (like mine) and packed full of beneficial ingredients. The Face Cream is fantastic it has a light citrusy scent which I love. It's not overpowering at all.
One of its star ingredients is the Organic Safflower Oleosomes, a super innovative natural emulsifier that is absorbed quickly, leaving the skin calm and moisturized.
The Face Lift Serum...well, it helps to lift the face! I was pleasantly surprised at how effective this is. It's formulated with high-quality concentrations of natural Marine Collagen, which increases the skin’s natural collagen production plus helps to reduce and prevent fine lines. It's been a great addition to my skincare regime.
Pure and Simple's skincare philosophy is based on Ayurveda, a holistic health modality from India that emphasizes the relationship between our mind, body, and spirit.
Founder Jean Eng prides herself on research and experience, noting that "What works for one customer may not work for another, + finding the right fit in terms of products or services for each individual is our expertise".
To help solve this dilemma, they offer at-home Facial Kits. The four kits include "rosacea/sensitive", "dry/mature", "oily/acne-prone", "mask-ne/purifying", each kit is formulated to help you with your skin, and is super affordable too! Not sure what kind of skin you have. Take their holistic skincare quiz to find you.
Pure and Simple has partnered with Terracycle, allowing its consumers to recycle their empty skincare bottles with the bottle return program.
11. BKIND

BKIND is based in Quebec and has a gorgeous lineup of beauty items for you to choose from. They are vegan, cruelty-free, and all-natural. The hand cream is so effective. I have been using it throughout the winter, and it's helped my hands. It's made with Shea butter and apricot oil and has a light citrus smell, it's super fresh and not greasy at all.
BKIND's philosophy is about respect for the body, the mind, the environment, and animals! Each product is filled with some of the best botanicals and a little happiness and kindness.
All of the ingredients are sourced responsibly and as locally as possible. BKIND is offering new packaging made from Ocean Bound Plastic. This is recycled raw material that is used in place of virgin materials.
It avoids the ocean's bulk by taking off plastic waste from risky areas, meaning areas less than 200 km from ocean coasts and waterways ending in the ocean. Use THEECOHUB for 15% off.
12. Upfront Cosmetics

Upfront Cosmetics makes some of the BEST shampoo bars on the market. They check all the boxes when it comes to ethical Canadian Green Beauty. They are vegan, paraben-free, and sulfate-free, with no animal testing and zero synthetics. Each vegan hair bar is packed full of nourishing ingredients.
They use plant-based emollients and proteins to help your hair shine!
I've used three different bars from them. There was a transition period; the best advice I can give is to stick to it. And you might have to try a few brands before landing the right one. I love this brand because they consider pH when formulating their bars.
I found my hair to be less dry, have less static, and be way easier to manage. My hair takes are real beating in the winter. These bars have helped.
If you are looking for a plastic-free alternative, this is it. Each bar replaces up to 3 plastic bottles.
13. SATYA

Satya is an Indigenous-owned, Canadian Green Beauty brand that makes all of its products with five supernatural ingredients, including Organic Calendula Petals, Organic Cold Pressed Sweet Almond Oil, Organic Beeswax, Organic Cold Pressed Jojoba, Organic Colloidal Oatmeal.
If you have a skin problem like eczema, please try this brand. They have over 800 reviews on their website, all touting its effectiveness as an effective topical anti-inflammatory that soothes + restores all types of skin.
The founder, Patrice, developed this brand to help her baby with terrible eczema. All ingredients are anti-inflammatory, steroid-free, fragrance-free, and USDA-certified organic.
They are packaged in sustainable materials, including recycled paper and veggie/soy-based inks. They do not test on animals. They work with Plastic Bank to fight poverty and reduce ocean plastics and are 100% carbon neutral with the Great Bear Rainforest.
14. Zyderma

Zyderma was founded by the cutest couple ever. They believe in an eco-scientific approach to daily skincare. Conventional skin care products can come with harsh sanitizers and ingredients that can strip your skin of healthy microflora, but that is not the case with Zyderma.
They use Micronized Silver in their product range, a pure, elementary silver manufactured using a unique process that does not produce harmful byproducts or chemicals. "Studies have shown that micronized silver cleanses the skin of microbes and reduces the appearance of problem skin".
If you suffer from breakouts and problematic skin, give this brand a go. Their products are formulated to help with all of that! I've used the Clarifying Cream. It's lightweight and fast-absorbing, I have sensitive skin, which has been helpful. I don't; get a lot of breakouts, but around PMS, I might get a pimple or two, and this cream helps get rid of them pretty quickly.
15. Etee

Etee is one of my favorite online zero waste shops for plastic-free personal care and home goods. This Canadian brand is killing it! If you are looking for zero waste dish soap, zero waste deodorant, or refillable cleaning products you will find all of them at Etee.
The hero skincare item for me is the coconut hair mask! It's simply heaven in a jar! The smell....is...to...die...for! It's rich and creamy, leaving my hair soft, shiny, and manageable. It comes in a glass jar, that you can reuse. I've also used it as a leave-in conditioner, works like a charm!
And I've used it on dry hair too, just put a dime-sized amount into the palm of your hand and rub it into the end, it will get rid of any frizz.
Etee is one of the most ethical and sustainable Canadian companies. All of their products are plastic-free and freaking amazing!
16. Basd Body Care

Is my new obsession! I had the opportunity of meeting the founders Ashley and Phil at the True Beauty Talk, they are both kick-ass Canadians who used to run the show over at Vega. They created basd body care after seeing a natural body care department void.
I was impressed with their overall knowledge of each formulation and dedication to their brand. Connecting with the people who make the products you put on your body daily is essential!
I've been using their Indulgence Creme Brulee body lotion for a month now, and let's say my hubby can't keep his hands off me.
I'm a big one for scent, and this stuff is a-may-zing. You'll want to lick it off. Here are the directions on the bottle: "get nakd. Rub body lotion onto the skin. feel your skin absorb moisture and nutrients. clothing is optional for the rest of the day. repeat daily or as needed." Sign me up!
We spend a lot of time on our faces but the body needs some TLC, too, especially in the summertime. Packed with organic virgin coconut oil and shea butter rich in vitamins that the skin needs for optimal health.
The organic aloe vera juice has a calming effect on the body, the organic sunflower oil hydrates the skin and fights off dryness and fine lines.
There is a scrub and a body wash, along with the body lotion, which I adore! I love coffee and salt to help reduce inflammation, detox the body, and eliminate dead skin cells. It's just what the body ordered. Time to get nakd babes!
I love it because it's a fantastic price point for what you are getting, and a little goes a long way. 3 pumps cover my whole body. It's very hydrating on my dry skin, rich and smooth in texture, melts into my skin, and leaves this lovely scent behind.
I apply it at night before bed, and in the morning, my skin still feels supple. And the branding is on fleek too! Make sure you put in the code ECOHUB for 10% off.
17. Bathorium

I have a total crush on Gregory and Mathieu, the co-founders of my new favorite bathtime products. This Canadian Green Beauty Brand is about #BringBackTheBath, and I must say this excites me.
Why? because we are so damn busy in this part of the world, and it's time we start thinking about what #SelfCare means. These days for me, it's filling the tub, pouring a good glass of rose, and grabbing a great book.
Bathorium's bath soaks are called C·R·U·S·H, what a perfect name, cause they are crushing it (I could not resist, sorry). I have tried all four of these fantastic concoctions, and each one offers different befits for the body.
The Charcoal Garden Detox's main ingredient is organic activated bamboo charcoal. I used this after producing the iHeart Radio Much Music Video Awards. I was exhausted (working nine days in a row will do that), I had been in the sun too much, and ate way too many M & M's — don't judge.
After soaking in the bath, the spicy oils of basil and calming lavender soothed my mind, and the Epsom salts + french sea salts relaxed my aching muscles. And bonus, the coconut milk was very soothing on my skin too.
Try the Eucalyptus Apothecary. Trust me. Your post-workout regime will be a whole lot more interesting. Try the Sea Kelp Serenity.
This C·R·U·S·H has the highest concentration of french sel de mer, dead sea mud, and organic sea kelp. Sea kelp naturally calms the skin from inflammation while therapeutic lavender and bergamot essential oil balance and restore.
The Rosemary Citrus Emulsion has this fresh tingle with beautiful notes of orange, grapefruit, and ylang-ylang flowing throughout the tub in a creamy cascade of coconut milk. Nourishing argan oil and mango butter provide essential vitamins to the skin leaving your whole body rejuvenated and restored.
I love it because Bathorium products will detoxify, nourish your skin, and balance your mind. Live Well. Love Lots. Bath, Beautifully. Plus, the price point is so affordable. Make sure you put in the code ECOHUB for 10% off.
18 Wildcraft Care

Wildcraft is a Canadian Green Beauty brand that is simply beautiful. From the branding to the formulations, I am officially hooked. This local Toronto brand is killing it, in my opinion. Let's start with the Chamomile Honey Makeup Remover. How can someone be in love with a makeup remover?
I have been trying a few as of late, and this is my top pick! It's effective. It removes caked-on TV makeup and does not sting or burn my eyes.
This toner is a fusion of every A-lister ingredient. The chamomile and honey are soft, soothing, and hydrating. The calming aroma comes from the Calendula, chamomile, and rose- and I can't get enough of it!
Speaking of can't get enough! Wildcraft's Balance Toner is for you if you want a toner that will leave your skin dewy and fresh.
I began using toners about six months ago after reading about how beneficial it is to aging skin (me), and I have to say my skin is better for it. A good toner will help to balance your skin's PH levels, shrink pores and protect the skin. After I've washed my face, I spray 1-2 pumps (love that it's in spray form), let it dry, then add my moisturizer.
Aloe vera, witch hazel, and orange floral water leave my skin feeling fresh. It's like spring in a bottle. Aloe vera is anti-microbial, which will help cleanse pores, and the witch hazel will reduce puffiness. The scents are simply gorgeous. The geranium essential oil and orange floral water are a marriage made in heaven.
Non-greasy, super absorbent, and simply divine is how I would describe the Illuminate Body Cream. It has a texture like whipped cream you'd get on a waffle; believe me, it's almost good enough to eat. A little goes a long way too. This skin-quenching cream will certainly be my #BFF come winter.
I would describe the Geranium Orange Blossom Face Cream as elegant, soft, and feminine. I've been dreaming of a face cream that I can use day or night, formulated for aging, sensitive skin, and reasonably priced. Well, dreams do come true, eco babes.
If you are on a quest to find a gorgeous cream rich in texture that will absorb into your skin and leave it feeling hydrated all day long, then you've hit the lottery. The Orange Blossom Toner and this face cream are a dynamic duo! I will be buying this when mine runs out!
Other reasons to love this brand: Locally made and locally sourced Ontario ingredients, minimal packaging, simple, elegant, uncomplicated formulas, and luxury skincare at a great price. Make sure you put in the code ECOHUB for 10% off.
19. Smith Farms

Taking farm to face to a new level, Smith Farms is located in a predominately agricultural setting in Western Quebec, where they make their products in a production facility on the grounds. Tre Cool! Julia and Becky (the brains behind the brand) are involved in every stage of this business.
They have a hand in everything from product formulation, ingredient selection, and manufacture to shipment. I love that maintaining one central production center cuts down their carbon footprint and ensures the highest quality of each product from start to finish.
The Gentle Foaming Facial Cleanser is just that! You don't need to use very much of it, and it's excellent for sensitive skin and gentle enough to use around the eyes. It has an oh-so-delightful scent. Remember that the right cleanser can make a massive difference to your skin.
If you are using one that's not right for your skin type, you are messing with the PH balance, which means that no matter what serum, cream, or moisturizer you use after you apply, it will do nothing. So choose wisely. I've since run out and have to say this is on my wish list.
I love good body oil, I first started using body oil when I was 14 or 15 years old (it was Neutrogena- YIKES), when I reached my 20's and realized that so many of the drug store-bought oils were full of crap (literally), I shied away from them.
Then I discovered Tata Harper's Body Oil (about 6 yrs ago), and the love affair began. The first time I smelled it, I was hooked. But with the Canadian dollar being so bad right now, it's become too much to fork out $125 for body oil. Up to this point, it's been tough to fill that void.
Enter the Nourishing Hair and Body Oil, the scent is very enticing thanks to the honeysuckle essential oil, and the antioxidant-rich formula combines jojoba, sweet almond, sunflower, and vitamin e oils, to renew skin and hair health. I use it right out of the shower on my body when it's still wet.
It goes on so well and is absorbed very quickly, leaving my skin soft and hydrated, and delicately scented.
I love it because it's a multipurpose oil that can be used as an overall moisturizer for the body and face. It also provides an intensive conditioning treatment for dry, damaged hair.
Their Daily Moisture Body Lotion is perfect for the summer. Not too heavy, beautifully scented with Grapefruit Essential Oil, and priced perfectly. A must-try!
20. Stark Skincare

Every STARK product is created by hand in small batches in a meticulously kept tiny lab. Stark uses resilient plants such as adaptogens and antioxidants to help skin function its best, by fortifying against external aggressors such as airborne VOCs, smoke, and pollution.
Infusing herbs that help skin adapt better to its environment, using aromatherapy to ease and soothe the mind (and create a fantastic, sensorial experience), and high-end, all-natural ingredients create synergistic formulas that create a joyful self-care moment while making skin look freaking amazing (I mean, it’s all one could ever want, right??).
Stark is both simple and sophisticated by combining old-world plant wisdom with modern cosmetic science. Jess, the woman behind the brand, is a true star in formulating the products. She knows her stuff.
If you live in an Uran area, the Cypress Purity + Defence oil is a lifesaver. I find the cold and dry winter weather can take a toll on my skin. I use this oil more than once a day and love it. It's a great "layering piece" as it's a great makeup primer and wears easily under serums, creams, and SPF.
A medium-light oil that absorbs quickly into the skin, creating a protective shield from the outside environment while delivering essential, bio-compatible phytonutrients back to the skin, such as squalene.
The Midnight Regenerating Oil is soooo good. Aurora is versatile and easy to use. Apply to dry skin to remove every trace of makeup and daily grime, then remove it with a damp cloth.
Once makeup is removed, you can emulsify a chickpea-sized balm with water to create a milky, creamy skin cleanser as it contains only skin-beneficial ingredients and can be left on the skin as a moisturizer or as a mask. Try on hands, elbows, fly-away hair, cuticles, and more.
Things to look for while shopping sustainable Canadian brands
Let’s look at what to account for in the search for more sustainable skincare brands.
When searching for any beauty products, whether we're looking for blue beauty or sustainable men's skincare brands, we always consider our clean beauty criteria to avoid any greenwashing.
Good Ingredients: Here, we look to avoid any potentially harmful ingredients commonly found in skincare products with the help of our handy list of 18 ingredients to avoid in skincare and reputable references from EWG and the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics. We’re not looking for the most sustainable skincare brands but for brands trying to offer better options.
Vegan: For the vegans among us, we also look out for products that contain any ingredients derived from animals or insects, such as beeswax, honey, milk, or cochineal bugs (also referred to as carmine or carbonic acid). Many green beauty brands are vegan now, so don’t fret and consider some vegan shampoo bars if you need them!
Cruelty-free: Products tested on animals are a major no-no, and it’s now very easy to avoid them. The cruelty-free certification program by Leaping Bunny is an excellent way of checking for this.
Palm-oil free: This is a no-go for us. It is pervasively linked to deforestation, threatens wildlife, and causes several other severe social and environmental issues. We try to avoid it wherever possible.
Sustainable Sourcing: Similarly, we want to know where all the ingredients in the products come from and how they are produced. Sustainable production methods and ethical working conditions throughout the supply chain is the only thing to do. Brands that are transparent and share information on sourcing are definitely at the top of our list.
Better packaging: Sustainable packaging is crucial, particularly in the beauty industry, which generates an estimated 120 billion packaging units annually. We look for brands offering refills, take-back programs, or types of plastic that can be recycled.
These criteria are a guideline. We do our best to find the best brands to share with you. There are no perfect criteria and no perfect brand, but lots are doing great things!
